The Selection Committee under Tamil Nadu's Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DME) has published the tentative Round-1 counselling schedule for MBBS and BDS admissions under the 7.5% seat reservation for students of Tamil Nadu government schools, for the 2026-27 session. This counselling covers Government Medical/Dental Colleges, government seats in self-financing Medical/Dental Colleges, ESIC Medical College at K.K. Nagar, Chennai, and Private Universities. Candidates are being called in person on 13 August 2026, in two time slots, based on their rank and NEET UG 2026 score. This is a physical, in-person counselling — no online choice-filling is described in this notice, and no individual call letters will be sent. Candidates must check their own rank against the bands listed and report on the correct date and time with original documents.
If your General Rank (GR) falls between 001 and 912, or your SC/SCA/ST Community Rank falls in the bands listed, you must personally report on 13 August 2026 at the given time with all original certificates — there are no call letters and allotment is not guaranteed even if you attend.
Who is called, and when
This round is only for candidates eligible under the 7.5% reservation for students who studied in Tamil Nadu government schools. Candidates are called in rank bands, not one by one, and everyone in a band must report at the stated time.
'GR' means General Rank (rank within the 7.5% merit list, across all communities), and 'CR' means Community Rank (rank within a specific reserved category — SC, SCA, or ST).

Traps to watch out for
A few points in this notice can cost a candidate their turn if missed.
- ⚠️ No individual call letters are sent — you must check the schedule yourself and turn up on the correct date and time for your rank band.
- ⚠️ The bonafide certificate from the CEO is not needed by every candidate — only those who finished HSC before 2022, or whose EMIS number failed to match and who are listed as 'Ineligible' on the official website. Check that list if you are unsure whether you need this certificate.
- ⚠️ Being called for counselling does NOT guarantee a seat. The notice states plainly that more candidates are being called than there are seats, so allotment is not guaranteed to everyone.
- ⚠️ Mobile phones and other communication devices are not allowed inside the counselling hall during your turn.
- ⚠️ You can only choose from the vacancies that are actually available at the moment your turn comes — not from the full list of colleges.
Fees and who must accompany the candidate

See My CollegesFrequently asked questions
Will I get a call letter for this counselling?
No. The notice clearly states that no individual call letters will be sent. You must check your rank against the published schedule and report on the correct date and time yourself.
Do I have to pay any fee to attend this counselling round?
No. Candidates participating in this counselling for MBBS and BDS courses need not pay Processing Fee or Tuition Fee, as per this notice.
I completed my HSC in 2023. Do I need the CEO bonafide certificate?
Based on this notice, the CEO-issued bonafide certificate (for studying in a TN government school from 6th to 12th) is only required for candidates who completed HSC before 2022, or whose EMIS number could not be matched and who are listed in the 'Ineligible' list on the official website. If neither applies to you, this specific certificate is not listed as compulsory for you — but you should still verify your status on the official website before the counselling date.
If I am in the rank range for my category, am I guaranteed a seat?
No. The notice explicitly warns that since more candidates are being called for counselling than there are seats, allotment is not guaranteed to everyone who attends.
Can I submit photocopies of my certificates instead of originals?
No. The notice requires original certificates and documents. Candidates who do not produce the originals listed will not be allowed to participate in the counselling.
Whose community certificate do I need besides my own?
You need your own Community Certificate plus the Community Certificate of either your father or your mother (any one parent is acceptable).
Can I bring my phone into the counselling hall?
No. Mobile phones and other communication devices are not allowed inside the counselling hall during your turn.
What if I reach after my allotted time slot?
The notice does not specify a grace period, but it does require candidates to be present one hour before the counselling begins, and to attend as per the date, time and rank mentioned in the schedule. It is safest to arrive well before your slot.
Check your rank carefully against the schedule table, gather every original document listed, and reach the venue at Omandurar Government Estate, Chennai a full hour before your slot on 13 August 2026, with one parent. Since this is a tentative schedule, keep checking the official TN Medical Selection website for any last-minute updates before the date.
