If you are a NEET UG 2026 candidate with Himachal Pradesh domicile, your state-level medical and dental counselling has now begun. The Atal Medical and Research University (AMRU), Mandi, which conducts the state quota admission process for MBBS and BDS seats in Himachal Pradesh, has opened Round 1 registration on its official portal amruhp.ac.in. This is separate from the All India Quota (AIQ) counselling run by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), and it decides who gets the 85% of seats reserved for the state. With registration, merit lists, choice filling and allotment all packed into a tight two-week window, aspirants need to move quickly and carefully.
HP-domicile NEET UG 2026 candidates must register on amruhp.ac.in between August 13 and 17, 2026, and should track every subsequent deadline closely since missing a reporting window can cost them the allotted seat.
What AMRU's Round 1 counselling covers
AMRU is the nodal body for admitting students to state quota MBBS and BDS seats across Himachal Pradesh's medical and dental colleges for the 2026-27 academic session. This state quota accounts for 85% of seats in HP colleges, while the remaining 15% All India Quota seats are filled separately through MCC's central counselling.
A candidate is eligible for this HP process only if they have qualified NEET UG 2026 and meet the state's domicile or bona fide residency criteria. Students who qualify under both AIQ and HP state quota eligibility can register for both counselling processes at the same time — there is no rule stopping you from keeping both options open until you actually accept a seat.
Round 1 schedule at a glance
The Round 1 timeline is compressed, so candidates should keep a printed or saved copy of these dates handy rather than relying on memory.

| Provisional merit list | 18 August 2026 |

What happens after Round 1
Seats that remain vacant after Round 1 reporting will be taken up in Round 2, with fresh registration from August 31 to September 2, merit lists on September 3 and 5, choice filling from September 6–8, allotment on September 10–11, and reporting on September 13–14.
A Round 3 will follow the same pattern in mid-to-late September, and any seats still unfilled after that will go into a Stray Vacancy round, for which dates have not yet been announced. Candidates who do not get a seat in Round 1 are not out of the process — they simply carry forward into the later rounds, subject to AMRU's rules on fresh registration and choice locking at each stage.
Registration process and documents
Registration is entirely online. Candidates need to create a login using their NEET UG 2026 roll number, fill in personal, academic and category details, upload scanned documents in the prescribed format, and pay the counselling fee before the window closes on August 17.
Keep scanned copies ready well before you start the form, since resizing or re-scanning documents at the last moment is one of the most common reasons candidates miss registration deadlines.
- NEET UG 2026 admit card and scorecard
- Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets and certificates
- Himachal Pradesh domicile or bona fide certificate
- Category/reservation certificate, if applicable
- Aadhaar card or other valid photo ID
- Recent passport-size photograph and scanned signature
Why the reporting deadline matters
AMRU has fixed a narrow two-day reporting window (August 28–29) after final allotment for Round 1. Candidates who are allotted a seat but fail to complete joining formalities within this window risk having their allotment cancelled and losing the seat to the next round.
This is a routine but important part of state counselling nationwide, and Himachal Pradesh is no exception — a seat is only secure once you report physically or as instructed and complete admission formalities, not merely once the allotment result is displayed.

Are there separate rounds for BDS seats?
No, MBBS and BDS seats are counselled together within the same rounds and schedule; candidates indicate their course preference during choice filling.
Eligible candidates should register on amruhp.ac.in well before August 17, keep all documents scanned and ready, and set reminders for the merit list, choice-filling and reporting dates so no step is missed.
