If you're a NEET UG 2026 candidate with a Maharashtra domicile, the state's Centralised Admission Process (CAP) counselling for MBBS, BDS and related health courses has officially begun. The State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell opened registration on August 6, 2026, on its dedicated portal, and the window to register, pay the fee and upload documents closes on August 12 at 11:59 PM. This is one of the biggest state-level counselling processes in the country, covering roughly 10,845 MBBS and 3,526 BDS seats along with AYUSH and allied health programmes, so getting the paperwork right early matters far more than it seems at this stage. Missing this registration window means missing every state quota seat — government, private, corporation and minority — for the entire 2026-27 academic year.

Maharashtra-domicile NEET UG 2026 candidates must complete CAP registration, fee payment and document upload by August 12, 2026 (11:59 PM) to be considered for any MBBS, BDS or AYUSH seat in the state this year.

What This Counselling Round Covers

The Maharashtra CAP process is not limited to MBBS and BDS. It also handles admissions to BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BSMS, BPTh, BOTh, BASLP and B(P&O) programmes offered across the state's government, municipal, private and deemed-linked colleges.

Running all these courses through one common portal and one common merit list means a single registration effort gives a candidate a shot at multiple course options, provided their NEET UG 2026 score and category qualify them.

Key Dates for Round 1

The round 1 schedule is tightly packed, so candidates should mark every date rather than tracking just the registration deadline.

Who Can Register

Eligibility is built around two things: your NEET UG 2026 qualifying percentile and your domicile status. Candidates need a valid Maharashtra domicile certificate, along with Class 10 and Class 12 passed from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Candidates without a Maharashtra domicile are not shut out entirely — they can still apply, but only against All India Quota (AIQ) seats that get surrendered back to the state pool. Age limits and other eligibility norms follow National Medical Commission (NMC) rules applicable for the 2026-27 academic session.

Registration Fee

The fee structure is modest but must be paid online at the time of registration itself — there is no offline payment option.

  • General/Open category: Rs 800
  • SC/ST/OBC/EWS and other reserved categories: Rs 600
  • Payment accepted via net banking, debit card, credit card or UPI

Documents You Should Have Ready

Since the whole process is online and time-bound, incomplete or mismatched document uploads are the most common reason candidates lose time or get stuck in verification. Keep both originals and self-attested scanned copies ready before you even open the registration form.

  • NEET UG 2026 admit card and scorecard
  • Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets and passing certificates
  • Maharashtra domicile certificate
  • Nationality certificate or valid Indian passport
  • Aadhaar card or other government photo ID
  • Caste certificate and caste validity certificate (for reserved categories)
  • Non-Creamy Layer certificate valid till March 31, 2027 (for OBC/SEBC/EWS)
  • PwD certificate from a competent authority, if applicable
  • Recent passport-size photograph and signature

Seats on Offer

The state is expected to fill close to 10,845 MBBS seats and about 3,526 BDS seats through this CAP process, spread across government, municipal corporation, private and deemed-university-linked colleges. AYUSH and allied health science seats are counted and allotted separately from this MBBS/BDS pool.

The exact seat matrix — how many seats each college and category has this year — will only be published closer to the choice-filling stage, so candidates should avoid finalising a college preference list too early based on last year's numbers alone.

What Aspirants Should Do Right Now

With just a short window between registration opening and closing, procrastination is the biggest risk here, not competition or cutoffs.

  • Register on the official portal well before August 12, 11:59 PM — don't wait for the last day
  • Scan and organise every required document in the specified format before starting the form
  • Double-check domicile and category certificates for validity dates, especially the Non-Creamy Layer certificate
  • Track the provisional merit list on August 15 and use the grievance window (Aug 16–17) if your name, score or category shows an error
  • Plan travel and accommodation in advance for physical joining between August 24 and 28, in case you get allotted a college outside your home city
