The Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Warangal, has issued a notification opening online registration for NEET UG 2026-qualified candidates who want to compete for MBBS and BDS seats in Telangana under the Competent Authority Quota — the state's own share of seats in government and private colleges, after the 15% All India Quota and other central shares are set aside. This is the first step in Telangana's state counselling process: candidates register, upload certificates, and get a provisional state merit position based on their NEET UG 2026 rank. It is not yet the seat-allotment round — that (web options and seat matrix) will be notified separately later. The registration window is short: just eight days. Missing it, or uploading the wrong certificate type, can knock a candidate out of the entire state counselling process.
Eligible NEET UG 2026 candidates must register online and upload all mandatory certificates on tsmedadm.tsche.in between 6:00 AM on August 5, 2026 and 6:00 PM on August 12, 2026 — this is a one-time registration that covers all rounds of Telangana state counselling.
What this notification is — and isn't
This notice invites online registration to determine each candidate's State Merit position for admission into MBBS and BDS courses under the Competent Authority Quota for the academic year 2026-27. This quota covers seats in Government Medical/Dental Colleges (after deducting the 15% All India Quota) and Category 'A' seats in private un-aided medical and dental colleges — including minority colleges and the Army College of Dental Sciences, Secunderabad.
It is important to understand what this step does NOT do: it does not allot you a seat. It only registers you and builds a provisional merit list based on your NEET UG 2026 rank and eligibility documents. The actual seat matrix (how many seats are available in which college) and the schedule for exercising web options (choosing your preferred colleges) will be announced separately on the KNRUHS website later.
The tuition fee for 2026-27 has also not been fixed yet — it will be set by a separate order from the Government of Telangana.
Registration dates — don't miss this window
Candidates can register online and upload scanned original certificates on https://tsmedadm.tsche.in starting 6:00 AM on 5 August 2026, and the portal closes at 6:00 PM on 12 August 2026. That is roughly eight days.
This registration and document upload will happen only once, regardless of how many rounds of counselling follow. There will be no separate notice asking you to verify or re-upload certificates before each round — so if you miss uploading something now, you may not get another chance until physical verification at the allotted college, by which time it could be too late to fix an eligibility problem.
NEET UG 2026 cut-off scores to qualify
You must have scored at or above the following cut-off in NEET UG 2026 to even be eligible to register for Telangana's Competent Authority Quota:

Who is eligible — local status, education and age
Local status (residence/study requirement): You must be an Indian National, Person of Indian Origin (PIO), or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card holder (with PIO/OCI status issued before 4 March 2021). Beyond this, you generally need to show a genuine local connection to Telangana — either you studied in an educational institution in Telangana for at least 4 consecutive years ending with the year you first appeared for the qualifying exam, OR (if you did not study there) you resided in Telangana for at least 4 years immediately before the exam and appeared for the qualifying exam from within the state.
Exception for children of transferable-job parents: If you studied outside Telangana during any of those four years because your parent's job required it, you can still be considered eligible — but only for specific categories: children of Telangana State Government employees who served outside the state during those years; children of IAS/IFS/IPS officers of the Telangana cadre; children of defence/ex-servicemen/CAPF personnel who declared Telangana as their hometown when joining service; or children of employees of a Telangana Government corporation/agency with transferable postings. In every such case, you must submit a certificate of employment from the competent authority proving your parent's service outside the state for the matching years.
Educational qualification: You must have passed Intermediate (10+2) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology)/Biotechnology and English, meeting these minimum marks in science subjects — OC/EWS candidates need at least 50%, BC/SC/ST candidates need at least 40%, and OC/EWS PWD candidates need at least 45%. You must also meet the NEET UG 2026 cut-off score shown above.
Age: You must have completed 17 years of age as on 31 December 2026. This applies to every category — if you will not turn 17 by that date, do not apply.
PWD candidates: If you are claiming Persons with Disabilities category, you must mark this in the online application and later appear before a Medical Board constituted by the University, as per a schedule to be announced separately, to confirm your PWD status.
Registration and processing fee
The fee is non-refundable under any circumstances, so make sure you are actually eligible before paying.
OC and BC candidates pay Rs. 4,000 (plus bank transaction charges). SC and ST candidates pay Rs. 3,200 (plus bank transaction charges). Payment is only through Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking.
If a payment fails but a second, successful payment goes through (a 'double payment'), you can request a refund of the failed/duplicate transaction only by emailing knruhs.doublepayments@gmail.com. After verification, any refund due will be processed only after admissions close — not immediately.
Documents you must upload — and the traps that get applications rejected
The notification lists 20 categories of documents. Most are mandatory for every candidate; some apply only if relevant to your situation. All documents must be PDF (except photo and signature, which are JPG/JPEG), and each has a maximum file size — check these carefully before uploading, as oversized files may fail to upload.
Applications that are incomplete, or missing mandatory certificates, photo, or signature at the declaration area, will be automatically rejected and will not be considered at all for the merit list — there is no fixing this after the window closes.

What happens after registration
After the window closes, KNRUHS and department officials will verify your uploaded certificates and prepare a provisional merit list based on your NEET UG 2026 rank and eligibility. Note that getting a merit position does not automatically mean your candidature is accepted — the University can still find discrepancies later and cancel your candidature.
Final, physical verification of your original certificates happens only at the time of admission, at the college you are allotted, by that college's admission committee. If any discrepancy is found there, your provisional allotment can be cancelled — even after you've been allotted a seat.
The schedule for exercising web options (choosing colleges in order of preference) and the seat matrix will be announced separately later on the KNRUHS website. No individual communication will be sent to candidates — you must check the website yourself.
Candidates must exercise web options for MBBS and BDS separately, and are advised to save/print their submitted options. After allotment, you'll need to pay the university fee, download the allotment order, and carry the allotment order, filled application printout, bonds and original certificates (plus one self-attested set) to the college for final verification.

Is this the final seat allotment for MBBS/BDS in Telangana?
No. This is only the registration step to determine your state merit position. The actual seat allotment happens later through web options, after a separate schedule and seat matrix are announced.

What NEET UG 2026 score do I need to qualify?

My BC certificate says 'OBC' — will it be accepted?
No. The notice specifically says an OBC certificate will not be considered for state quota. You need a certificate that mentions BC-A, BC-B, BC-C, BC-D or BC-E.
My caste certificate doesn't mention an SC sub-group. Is that a problem?
Yes, a serious one. For SC candidates, the certificate must specifically mention SC Group-I, Group-II, or Group-III. A community certificate without the sub-group will not be accepted under any circumstances.
I studied outside Telangana for a couple of years because of my parent's transferable job. Am I still eligible?
You may be, but only if your parent falls into specific categories — Telangana government employee, Telangana-cadre IAS/IFS/IPS officer, defence/CAPF personnel who declared Telangana as hometown, or employee of a Telangana government corporation with transferable postings — and you submit a certificate proving your parent's service outside the state for those exact years.
Is the registration fee refundable if I later find I'm ineligible?
