KNRUHS Telangana NEET UG 2026: Competent Authority Quota Registration for MBBS & BDS Opens 5 August

Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Warangal has issued a notification opening online registration for NEET UG 2026 qualified candidates who want to compete for MBBS and BDS seats under Telangana's Competent Authority Quota for the academic year 2026-27. This is not the final seat allotment — it is the step where the university collects your NEET rank and certificates to build a State Merit list before actual counselling (web options) begins later. It covers Government medical/dental colleges, Category 'A' seats in private un-aided medical colleges (both minority and non-minority), and private dental colleges including Army College of Dental Sciences, Secunderabad. Registration is open from 5 August 2026 (6:00 AM) to 12 August 2026 (6:00 PM) on tsmedadm.tsche.in. Every eligible candidate who wants a Telangana state-quota MBBS/BDS seat must register in this window — there will be no second chance to upload certificates later.

What this notice is — and who must act

This is an announcement of the registration window for Telangana's Competent Authority Quota counselling for MBBS and BDS — not a result and not the final college allotment. 'Competent Authority Quota' means the seats the state fills through its own counselling, after 15% of government college seats go to the All India Quota.

Any NEET UG 2026 candidate who wants to be considered for a Telangana state-quota MBBS or BDS seat — in a Government college, a private un-aided (minority or non-minority) medical college, a Government/private dental college, or the Army College of Dental Sciences — must register during this window, provided they meet the cut-off score and eligibility conditions described below.

The actual seat matrix (how many seats, in which colleges) and the schedule for exercising 'web options' (the ranked list of college choices candidates submit) will be published separately, later, on the KNRUHS website.

Registration schedule

Candidates must complete online registration and upload scanned original certificates within this exact window. There is no provision in the notice for late registration.

• After registration closes, a provisional merit list will be prepared based on NEET rank and eligibility; final certificate verification happens only later, at the allotted college at the time of joining

NEET UG 2026 cut-off scores you must clear

You can only register if you have scored at or above the cut-off for your category. These are the minimum qualifying percentiles/scores in NEET UG 2026 set by this notice.

Who counts as a 'local' candidate for Telangana quota

Telangana's Competent Authority Quota is meant for candidates with genuine local ties to the state. You qualify as local if you meet ONE of these two conditions:

There is an important exception for children of certain government/defence employees who were posted outside Telangana during the qualifying study years — they can still be treated as local if they meet specific conditions.

• You studied in an educational institution in Telangana for at least 4 consecutive academic years ending with the year you (first) appeared for the qualifying exam, OR
• You did not study in an institution during that period but resided in Telangana for at least 4 years immediately before the qualifying exam, AND you appeared for the qualifying exam in Telangana
• Exception 1: Children of Telangana State Government employees who served outside the state during the relevant study years
• Exception 2: Children of Telangana-cadre IAS/IFS/IPS officers (serving or retired) posted outside the state during those years
• Exception 3: Children of defence/ex-servicemen/Central Armed Police Force personnel who declared Telangana as their hometown at the time of joining service, and served outside the state during those years
• Exception 4: Children of employees of a Telangana Government corporation/agency/instrumentality who are liable to be transferred anywhere in India, and served outside the state during those years
• In all four exception cases, you must submit a certificate of employment proving the parent's service outside Telangana for the exact matching period

Educational qualification, age, and PWD candidates

Beyond the NEET score, you must also meet the National Medical Commission's standard academic and age requirements, as restated in this notice.

Persons with Disability candidates must specifically mark themselves as PWD in the online application and later appear before a Medical Board that KNRUHS will constitute — the schedule for this board will be announced separately.

• Passed Intermediate (10+2) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology)/Biotechnology and English
• Minimum marks in science subjects: OC/EWS — 50%; BC/SC/ST — 40%; OC/EWS PWD — 45%
• Age: must have completed 17 years as on 31 December 2026 — this applies to all categories with no exception; candidates who don't turn 17 by that date should not apply

Registration and processing fee

This fee is paid online at the time of registration and is non-refundable under any circumstances, even if you later realise you are not eligible. Read the Prospectus and eligibility conditions carefully before you pay.

If a payment fails but money is deducted twice (double payment), you can email knruhs.doublepayments@gmail.com for a refund — but this refund is processed only after admissions close, and only for the failed/duplicate transaction, not the fee itself.

• OC and BC candidates: Rs. 4,000 (plus bank transaction charges)
• SC and ST candidates: Rs. 3,200 (plus bank transaction charges)
• Payment mode: Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking only

Documents you must upload — and the traps that get applications rejected

You upload all certificates ONCE, during this registration window, regardless of how many rounds of counselling follow. There is no separate notice later for certificate verification, so missing or wrong documents at this stage can permanently hurt your merit position.

Several document rules are strict and commonly misunderstood — read these carefully before you scan anything.

• Qualifying exam certificate must be a Marks Memo (Intermediate/10+2) or equivalent — a Grade Certificate is NOT accepted
• Community/caste certificate must be issued ONLINE by the Mandal Revenue Officer or competent authority of the Telangana Government — no other format is accepted
• BC category: only BC-A, BC-B, BC-C, BC-D or BC-E certificates are valid. An OBC certificate will NOT be considered for Telangana state quota
• SC category: the certificate must specifically mention the Sub-Group — SC Group-I, SC Group-II or SC Group-III. A caste certificate without the sub-group will be rejected outright
• EWS income and asset certificate must be valid for 2026-27 (financial year 2025-26) and issued by the Tahsildar on or after 1 April 2026 — an older certificate will not work
• Minority certificate (for Minority Medical College admission, Muslims only) must be issued by Tahsildar/MRO/Minority Welfare Department
• Candidates who never studied in a school/college (claiming residence-based local status) must additionally submit a residence certificate covering the 4 years before the qualifying exam, with exact dates
• If claiming the 'studied outside Telangana' exception, you must attach the parent's employment certificate from the competent authority covering the matching period

What happens after registration

Once registration closes, KNRUHS will scrutinise the uploaded certificates and release a provisional merit list based on NEET UG 2026 rank and eligibility. This is only provisional — a merit position does not mean your candidature is finally accepted; the university can still cancel it if any information you gave turns out to be incorrect.

The schedule for actually exercising web options (choosing colleges in order of preference) will be announced separately. Candidates must exercise options for MBBS and BDS separately, print their submitted options for reference, and be careful with the order of preference since it decides which college they get.

After allotment, you must pay the university fee, download the allotment order, and take the printed application form, allotment order, bonds and original certificates (plus one self-attested photocopy set) to the allotted college's Principal for final verification. Any discrepancy found at this stage can cancel the allotment.
