KNRUHS Telangana MBBS/BDS 2026-27: Competent Authority Quota Registration Opens 5–12 August 2026

Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Warangal has issued a notification opening online registration for Telangana's Competent Authority Quota — the state government's own counselling for MBBS and BDS seats, separate from the 15% All India Quota. This is for candidates who have qualified NEET UG 2026 and want to compete for seats in Telangana's government and private (non-minority and minority) medical colleges, and government and private non-minority dental colleges, including Army College of Dental Sciences, Secunderabad. This notice only covers registration to determine your State Merit position — the actual seat allotment (web options/choice filling) will be notified separately once the seat matrix is published. Registration is a one-time process: you upload all certificates now, and they are used for every round of counselling, so there is no second chance to fix mistakes later. The window is short — just eight days — so candidates need to gather documents and register carefully within the deadline.

What exactly is happening

This is a registration notice, not a seat allotment or result. KNRUHS is inviting online applications from NEET UG 2026 qualified candidates who want to be considered for MBBS/BDS seats under Telangana's Competent Authority Quota for the academic year 2026-27.

'Competent Authority Quota' means the seats the Telangana state government fills through its own counselling — this includes seats in government medical/dental colleges (after 15% is set aside for the All India Quota), and Category 'A' seats in private un-aided medical and dental colleges (non-minority and minority).

The total number of seats and the seat matrix for 2026-27 will be published later on the KNRUHS website, before candidates are asked to exercise web options (choice filling for colleges). This notice is only about registering and uploading documents to fix your position in the state merit list.

NEET UG 2026 cut-off scores you must clear to register

You can only register if you have scored at or above the cut-off applicable to your category in NEET UG 2026. These are percentile-based cut-offs, and the notice gives the corresponding scores as well.

Registration schedule and how to apply

Candidates must register online and upload scanned original certificates on https://tsmedadm.tsche.in from 6:00 AM on 5 August 2026 up to 6:00 PM on 12 August 2026. Use a desktop or laptop computer, as the notice specifically recommends this over mobile devices.

After the window closes, KNRUHS will prepare a Provisional Merit position based on your NEET UG 2026 rank and the eligibility criteria, after verifying the certificates you uploaded. Final, physical verification of original certificates happens only later, at the time of admission, at the college you are allotted.

Who is eligible — the local/domicile status rules

Besides clearing the NEET cut-off, you must be an Indian National, Person of Indian Origin (PIO), or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card holder (with PIO/OCI status issued before 04-03-2021), and meet Telangana's 'local area' (domicile) rules.

You are treated as a 'local candidate' of Telangana if EITHER of these applies:

• You studied in an educational institution in Telangana for at least 4 consecutive academic years ending with the year you appeared (or first appeared) for the qualifying exam, OR
• You did not study in any institution during that period, but you resided in Telangana for at least 4 years immediately before the qualifying exam, AND you appeared for that qualifying exam in Telangana.

Exceptions if you studied outside Telangana

If part of your last 4 years of schooling was outside Telangana, you can still be treated as a local candidate if you fall under specific categories — but only with supporting proof of your parent's posting.

• Children of Telangana State Government employees who served/are serving outside Telangana during those years.
• Children of serving/retired All India Services officers (IAS/IFS/IPS) of the Telangana cadre, posted outside the state during those years.
• Children of defence personnel/ex-servicemen/Central Armed Police Force personnel who declared Telangana as their hometown at the time of joining service, and served outside Telangana during those years.
• Children of employees of a Telangana government Corporation/Agency/Instrumentality who are liable to transfer anywhere in India, and were posted outside the state during those years.
• In every case, you must submit a certificate of employment from the competent authority proving your father's/mother's posting outside Telangana for the exact period you studied elsewhere.

Educational qualification and age criteria

Per NMC (National Medical Commission) regulations, you must have passed Intermediate (10+2) or an equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology)/Biotechnology, and English.

Minimum marks required in science subjects differ by category: OC/EWS candidates need at least 50%, BC/SC/ST candidates need at least 40%, and OC/EWS PWD candidates need at least 45%.

Age: you must have completed 17 years of age as on 31 December 2026. If you will not turn 17 by that date, you should not apply — this age rule applies to every category without exception.

PWD candidates: if you are applying under the Persons with Disabilities category, you must clearly select 'PWD' in the online application and later appear before a Medical Board constituted by the University, as per a schedule to be announced separately, to confirm your PWD status.

Registration and processing fee

The fee is non-refundable under any circumstances, so make sure you meet all eligibility criteria before paying.

If a payment fails but a second payment succeeds (double payment), you must email knruhs.doublepayments@gmail.com with proof — refunds for such genuine duplicate payments are processed only after admissions close, not immediately.

• OC and BC candidates: Rs. 4,000 (plus bank transaction charges)
• SC and ST candidates: Rs. 3,200 (plus bank transaction charges)
• Payment mode: Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking only

Documents you must upload — and the traps that cause rejection

This is the most important part of the process. The notice lists 20 documents, most in PDF, with strict file-size limits. Missing a mandatory document or uploading the wrong type of certificate can get your application rejected outright, and remember — you upload documents only once, for all rounds of counselling combined.

Pay special attention to these traps called out explicitly in the notice:

• Qualifying exam certificate: only the Intermediate/10+2 Marks Memo or its equivalent is accepted — a Grade Certificate is NOT accepted.
• Community/caste certificate: only certificates issued online by the Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) or competent authority of the Telangana government are accepted for state quota admissions.
• BC category: only BC-A / BC-B / BC-C / BC-D / BC-E certificates are valid. An OBC certificate will NOT be considered for state quota.
• SC category: the certificate must specifically mention the Sub-Group — SC Group-I, SC Group-II, or SC Group-III. A community certificate that does not mention the SC sub-group will not be accepted under any circumstances.
• EWS income and asset certificate: must be valid for 2026-27 (financial year 2025-26), and issued by the Tahsildar ON OR AFTER 01 April 2026 — an older certificate will not work.
• Minority certificate (for Minority Medical College admission — Muslims only): must be issued by Tahsildar/MRO/Minority Welfare Department.
• Certificates from other special categories (NCC, Children of Armed Personnel, Police Martyrs' Children, Singareni Collieries employees, Anglo-Indian) are needed only if applicable to you.

What happens after you register

Once registration closes, KNRUHS will scrutinise the applications and certificates and release a provisional merit list based on your NEET UG 2026 rank and category eligibility. Note that getting a merit position does NOT mean your candidature is confirmed or that your entries are accepted as true — verification continues.

The schedule for exercising web options (actually choosing colleges/courses) will be announced separately, along with the seat matrix. No individual communication will be sent to candidates — you must keep checking the KNRUHS website yourself.

If you are allotted a seat, you will need to pay the university fee, download the allotment order, and carry the printed application, allotment order, bonds, and original certificates (plus one self-attested copy set) to the allotted college for final in-person verification. Any discrepancy found at that stage can lead to cancellation of your provisional allotment.
