KNRUHS Telangana MBBS/BDS Counselling 2026: Competent Authority Quota Registration Opens 5 August

Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Warangal — the body that runs Telangana's state-level MBBS/BDS counselling — has released the Prospectus for admission into MBBS and BDS courses under Competent Authority Quota for the academic year 2026-27. This is the state quota: seats in Government Medical/Dental Colleges (after 15% go to All India Quota), Category 'A' seats in private un-aided medical colleges, private non-minority dental colleges, and the Army College of Dental Sciences, Secunderabad. The notice opens online registration and certificate upload from 5 August 2026 to 12 August 2026 on a dedicated portal. Merit list dates, web-option dates and the seat matrix will be announced later on the university website. This is an application-opening notice, not a result or an allotment — students must register now to be considered for the merit list.

What's happening and the registration timeline

This is the official prospectus and schedule for Telangana's Competent Authority Quota (state quota) MBBS/BDS counselling for 2026-27. It is issued by KNRUHS, not by MCC — this covers state government medical/dental colleges and Category 'A' private seats, separate from the 15% All India Quota seats that go through MCC.

The most important dates released so far are below. Everything after certificate verification — the merit list, web-options, and admission closure — will be notified separately on the KNRUHS website; no individual messages will be sent to candidates, so check the site regularly.

Who can apply — eligibility, age and NEET cut-offs

Candidates must have passed Intermediate (10+2) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology)/Biotechnology and English, meeting minimum marks in science subjects that vary by category. A grade certificate is NOT accepted as proof of the qualifying exam — only a marks memo.

Age: the candidate must have completed 17 years as on 31 December 2026 — this applies to every category, no exceptions.

Candidates must have qualified NEET UG 2026 at or above the category-wise percentile/score shown below. These are minimum qualifying cut-offs; actual admission depends on rank and seat availability.

• OC/EWS candidates: minimum 50% marks in science subjects in the qualifying exam
• BC/SC/ST candidates: minimum 40% marks in science subjects
• OC/EWS PWD candidates: minimum 45% marks in science subjects

The Telangana 'local candidate' (domicile) rule — read this carefully

This is a strict eligibility gate: candidates who are domiciles of states other than Telangana are NOT eligible for Competent Authority Quota, as per Government Orders. A candidate is treated as 'local' if either of these is true:

If a candidate studied outside Telangana during the qualifying 4 years, they can still be considered local ONLY if they fall under specific exception categories, and only with the right proof.

• Studied in an educational institution in Telangana for at least 4 consecutive academic years ending with the year they first appeared for the qualifying exam, OR
• Did not study in any institution during that period but resided in Telangana for at least 4 years immediately before the qualifying exam AND appeared for that exam in Telangana
• Exception categories (if studied outside Telangana during the 4 years): children of Telangana government employees, children of IAS/IFS/IPS officers of the Telangana cadre, children of defence/CAPF personnel who declared Telangana as their hometown, or children of employees of a Telangana government corporation/agency liable to transfer anywhere in India — all serving/having served outside Telangana for the corresponding years
• This exception is available only if the candidate submits a certificate of the parent's employment outside the state for the matching period

Reservation categories and percentages

Reservations under Competent Authority Quota follow Telangana government orders. Social reservation for SC, ST and BC is vertical (applied within the general pool), while women, PWD, CAP and PMC are horizontal (applied across all categories).

• Women candidates: guaranteed 33⅓% of seats in each category (this guarantee doesn't apply if women already secure 33⅓% or more purely on merit)
• Children of Armed Personnel (CAP): 1%
• Persons with Disabilities (PWD): 5%
• Police Martyrs' Children (PMC): 0.25%
• One BDS seat at Government Dental College, Hyderabad is reserved for an Anglo Indian candidate
• 7 seats (5% of 127 Competent Authority seats) at Government Medical College Ramagundam / Singareni Institute of Medical Sciences are reserved for children of Singareni Collieries Company Limited employees
• EWS reservation applies only in 7 named government medical colleges: Gandhi Medical College Secunderabad, Kakatiya Medical College Hanamkonda, Government Medical College Siddipet, Government Medical College Mahabubnagar, Government Medical College Nizamabad, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences Adilabad, and ESIC Medical College Hyderabad
• Competent Authority Quota seats in un-aided private minority medical colleges are reserved for Muslim Minority candidates only
• NCC cadets get grace marks added to their NEET score: 7% for Republic Day Camp participation, 5% for Thal/Vayu/Nau Sainik Camp participation, 3% for NCC 'B' Certificate

Documents you must upload — and the traps that cause rejection

All certificates must be uploaded as PDF (photo and signature as JPG/JPEG) within specified file-size limits during the registration window. An incomplete application — missing mandatory documents, photo or signature — is automatically rejected and will not be considered for the merit list.

Several document rules are strict traps that can silently disqualify a genuine candidate. Pay close attention to these before you upload anything.

• ⚠️ Qualifying exam certificate: only the Intermediate/10+2 marks memo is accepted — a grade certificate is NOT accepted.
• ⚠️ Community/caste certificate: only certificates issued online by the Mandal Revenue Officer/Competent Authority of Telangana Government are considered.
• ⚠️ BC category: only BC-A/BC-B/BC-C/BC-D/BC-E certificates are valid — an OBC certificate is NOT accepted for state quota.
• ⚠️ SC category: the caste certificate MUST specifically mention the sub-group — SC Group-I, SC Group-II or SC Group-III. A caste certificate without the sub-group is rejected under any circumstances.
• ⚠️ EWS certificate: must be the Income and Asset Certificate valid for 2026-27 (financial year 2025-26), issued by the Tahsildar on or after 01.04.2026.
• Candidates who did not study in any educational institution must submit a residence certificate for the 4 years immediately preceding the qualifying exam, with exact dates.
• Mandatory documents for every candidate: NEET UG 2026 Score Card, Birth Certificate/SSC marks memo, Intermediate marks memo, 9th & 10th study certificates, Intermediate study certificates (2 years), Transfer Certificate, Aadhaar card, passport photo and signature.

Fees you will pay

There are three separate payments in this process, at different stages. Read the eligibility conditions carefully before paying — none of these fees are refundable once paid, except in genuine double-payment cases (refunded only after admissions close, via email request).

How to register — the four steps

The process happens entirely online on https://tsmedadm.tsche.in. Use a desktop or laptop only — the university explicitly warns against using mobiles, tabs or iPads. Keep a stable internet connection and keep your registered mobile number active throughout, since OTPs are sent at every stage.

Once you complete Step 2 (payment) successfully, you do not need to repeat it — you'll get a registration number by SMS and email. You can edit your data and re-upload certificates any number of times until the university starts verification.

• Step 2: Candidate Registration and Payment of Registration & Processing Fee — get your registration number
• Step 3: Uploading of Data — fill personal, category and study details
• Step 4: Uploading of Certificates — upload all mandatory and applicable documents as PDF/JPG, then save and print the filled application

After registration: merit list, web options and joining

Once registration closes, KNRUHS will verify uploaded certificates and prepare a provisional merit list based on NEET UG 2026 rank plus eligibility criteria. This certificate verification happens only once and covers all phases of counselling, so upload everything correctly the first time — there's no second verification round later.

After the final merit list (post-grievance) is published, candidates exercise web-options for MBBS and BDS seats separately, in order of preference. On allotment, candidates download a provisional allotment order after paying the University fee, then report to the allotted college with original certificates, self-attested copies, and required affidavits for final verification by the college's admission committee.

At joining, selected candidates must also submit a Genuineness Bond (notarised affidavit confirming all certificates are real), a Discontinuation Bond of Rs. 20,00,000, and an Anti-Drug Undertaking — all signed by both candidate and parent/guardian. If a candidate fails to join within the specified time with all documents, the admission is automatically cancelled.
