The Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) board has announced the tentative schedule for state quota counselling for MBBS and BDS admissions under NEET UG 2026, for the 2026-27 academic session. This is a schedule announcement — it tells candidates when to register, when merit lists come out, and when each of the three counselling rounds (plus a stray vacancy round) will happen. Registration begins on 6 August 2026 and the process, including the final stray round, is expected to run until early October 2026. The notice makes clear that only candidates who are natives of Odisha can compete for the state quota MBBS/BDS seats; candidates from other states can only be considered for NRI quota seats. Special attendance requirements apply for Persons with Disability (PWD/PC) and Ex-Servicemen (ES) candidates who want reservation benefits.
Odisha state quota MBBS/BDS registration opens 6 August 2026 (5:00 PM) and closes 10 August 2026 (11:59 PM) — and only Odisha state natives are eligible for these seats; other-state candidates may only apply under the NRI quota.
Who can apply for Odisha state quota seats
This is the most important eligibility rule in the notice: state quota MBBS and BDS seats in Odisha are reserved only for candidates who are natives of Odisha (i.e., domiciled in the state). If you are from another state, you cannot compete in this state quota counselling for these seats — your only route into Odisha's medical/dental colleges through this process is the NRI (Non-Resident Indian) quota, if you are eligible for it.
OJEE has explicitly warned candidates to check their eligibility before registering. Registering without meeting the native-state eligibility criterion will not help you get a state quota seat, so confirm your domicile status against Odisha's rules before you pay fees or fill the form.
The notice also states that having a valid State Rank is mandatory to participate in this counselling for all state quota MBBS/BDS seats — your NEET All India Rank alone is not enough; you need to be placed on Odisha's own state merit list.
- Only Odisha state natives are eligible for state quota MBBS and BDS seats.
- Candidates from other states may be considered only for NRI quota seats.
- A State Rank (based on your NEET All India Rank, after Odisha's own processing) is mandatory to take part in this counselling.
Registration and document upload — the first step
Candidates must register online and upload documents for verification within a fixed window. This registration is described as necessary for 'data pre-processing' — Odisha uses this data to build its State Merit List based on your NEET All India Rank. If you miss this window, you cannot be placed on the merit list and cannot take part in choice filling or allotment.
The registration and document upload window for the first round is from 6 August 2026, 5:00 PM to 10 August 2026, 11:59 PM.
Special requirement for PWD/PC and Ex-Servicemen (ES) candidates
If you are claiming reservation as a Person with Disability (PWD/PC) or under the Ex-Servicemen (ES) category, you must physically appear before the relevant assessment board — this is not optional and there is no provision for a later date if you miss it.
PWD/PC candidates must attend the Medical Assessment Board at SCB Medical College, Cuttack. Ex-Servicemen (ES) candidates must attend the ES Board at Rajya Sainik Board, Odisha, IRC Village, Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar. Both boards sit on the same two dates: 10 and 11 August 2026.
OJEE has stated in bold terms that candidates who miss these dates will be deprived of their PWD or ES reservation benefit — meaning you would then be considered only in the general category, even if you genuinely qualify for the reservation. Treat this as a hard, unmissable deadline.
- PWD/PC candidates: Medical Assessment Board, SCB Medical College, Cuttack — 10 and 11 August 2026.
- ES candidates: ES Board, Rajya Sainik Board (Odisha), IRC Village, Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar — 10 and 11 August 2026.
- ⚠️ Missing your board date permanently forfeits the PWD or ES reservation for this counselling cycle.
State merit list, choice filling and allotment — Round 1
After registration closes, OJEE reconciles and verifies candidate data (11–12 August 2026) before publishing a provisional State Merit List on 13 August 2026 at 4:00 PM. Candidates get a short window — by 11:30 AM on 14 August 2026 — to raise queries about their position on this list. The final State Merit List is then published the same day, 14 August 2026, at 5:00 PM.
Once the final merit list is out, candidates who are on it can start choice filling — selecting and ranking the colleges/courses they want — from 14 August 2026, 8:30 PM to 17 August 2026, 11:59 PM. After a one-day data reconciliation (18 August), the 1st Round Provisional Allotment is released on 19 August 2026 at 5:00 PM. Candidates can raise queries about their allotment by 20 August 2026, 5:00 PM, and the final 1st Round Allotment (with the downloadable allotment letter) is published on 22 August 2026 at 11:30 AM.
Reporting, admission fees and the bond — how to confirm your seat
Getting an allotment letter does not confirm your seat by itself. To convert a provisional allotment into an actual admission, you must pay the admission fees and physically report at the OJEE Cell, Gandamunda, carrying your original documents and a signed bond. For Round 1, this reporting window is 23 to 28 August 2026.
The notice adds that a college-wise reporting schedule will be announced separately later — so keep checking OJEE's website even after you get your allotment letter, as your specific college may have its own reporting timeline within this window.
If you decide not to join the allotted seat, you can withdraw (resign) from the admission process. For Round 1, withdrawal is allowed from 23 August 2026, 5:00 PM to 30 August 2026, 11:59 PM.
- Pay admission fee AND report physically at OJEE Cell, Gandamunda with original documents and signed bond to confirm your seat.
- College-wise reporting timings will be notified separately — watch for updates after your allotment.
- Withdrawal from admission is a separate, time-bound step if you choose not to join.
Full counselling schedule — Rounds 2, 3 and Stray Vacancy
After Round 1, OJEE displays vacant seats and reopens registration for candidates wanting to join or move up in Round 2, followed by a similar cycle for Round 3, and finally a Stray Vacancy round for whatever seats remain. Each round repeats the same broad steps: registration/document upload, revised merit list, choice filling and locking, provisional allotment, query window, final allotment, and reporting with fee payment.
The table below lists every key date across all rounds as given in the notice. Because this schedule is described as 'tentative,' always cross-check the latest dates on OJEE's official website before you plan your day.

See My CollegesFrequently asked questions
Can candidates from outside Odisha apply for state quota MBBS/BDS seats?
No. The notice states clearly that only Odisha state natives are eligible for all state quota MBBS and BDS seats. Candidates from other states may be eligible only for NRI quota seats, not state quota seats.
When does registration for Odisha state quota counselling open?
Registration and online document upload for Round 1 run from 6 August 2026, 5:00 PM to 10 August 2026, 11:59 PM.
I want to claim PWD reservation — what do I need to do?
You must personally attend the Medical Assessment Board at SCB Medical College, Cuttack, on 10 or 11 August 2026. If you miss both dates, you lose the PWD reservation benefit for this counselling.
I am an Ex-Serviceman's dependent/candidate — where do I go for verification?
You must attend the ES Board at Rajya Sainik Board, Odisha, IRC Village, Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar, on 10 or 11 August 2026. Missing this means you lose the ES reservation for this cycle.
How many counselling rounds are there?
The schedule covers three main rounds (Round 1, Round 2, Round 3) plus a final Stray Vacancy round from 3 to 5 October 2026 for any seats still unfilled.
Does getting an allotment letter mean my seat is confirmed?
No. You must also pay the admission fee and physically report at the OJEE Cell, Gandamunda, with your original documents and a signed bond within the specified reporting window for that round.
Will I know which college to report to in advance?
The notice says a college-wise reporting schedule will be notified separately later, so check OJEE's website again after your allotment for the exact reporting details for your specific college.
Is this schedule final?
No, OJEE itself calls this a 'tentative' schedule. Dates could be revised, so keep checking the official OJEE website (ojee.nic.in / odishajee.com) regularly.
If you are an Odisha-native NEET UG 2026 qualified candidate hoping for a state quota MBBS/BDS seat, mark 6–10 August 2026 for registration and keep the PWD/ES board dates (10–11 August) firmly on your calendar if applicable. Check the OJEE website regularly for the college-wise reporting schedule and any revisions to this tentative timeline.
