The biggest change: reporting happens only once

Under the revised system, physical reporting, original document verification and admission fee payment each happen only once for the entire counselling process. If your seat is later upgraded through the float option, you do not need to revisit your previous college to collect or re-submit documents. In line with revised National Medical Commission (NMC) guidelines, the disability assessment document will now be issued as an 'Eligibility Certificate' rather than the earlier format, aimed at making assessments more standardised across centres. MCC has also set up an Appellate Disability Assessment Board so candidates who disagree with an assessment decision have a formal route to appeal it.

NRI quota documents move online

Candidates applying under the NRI (Non-Resident Indian) quota can now upload their supporting documents directly through the counselling portal instead of relying on physical submission and verification, which used to add extra steps and delays. This should make eligibility checks faster for NRI candidates and their sponsoring institutions.

State quota counselling (the 85% seats managed by individual states) begins on August 13. The academic session for admitted students is scheduled to start on September 8, 2026.
