Maharashtra NEET UG 2026 CAP Counselling: Registration Window, Fees and Full Round 1 Schedule

The State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell, Maharashtra, has opened Centralised Admission Process (CAP) registration for MBBS, BDS and several AYUSH and allied health courses on its official portal. This is the first and most important step toward securing a state quota seat, corporation seat, or a private/deemed-linked seat within Maharashtra for the 2026-27 academic session. What is open right now, and until when

The registration link went live on the CAP portal on August 6, 2026. Candidates have until August 12, 2026 at 11:59 PM to finish three linked steps: filling the online form, uploading scanned documents, and paying the registration fee. These are treated as one composite step by the portal — an incomplete submission (for example, fee paid but documents not uploaded) can result in disqualification from the round.

Fees and who can apply

The registration fee is Rs 800 for General/Open category candidates and Rs 600 for SC, ST, OBC, EWS and other reserved-category candidates, payable online via net banking, cards or UPI at the time of registration.

To register, a candidate must have appeared for NEET UG 2026 and secured the qualifying percentile, hold a valid Maharashtra domicile certificate, and have passed Class 10 and Class 12 from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Candidates who do not hold Maharashtra domicile can still apply, but only against All India Quota (AIQ) seats that remain unfilled and get surrendered back to the state — they are not eligible for the general state quota pool. All age and eligibility norms otherwise follow National Medical Commission (NMC) rules for the 2026-27 session.

How many seats are actually on offer

Maharashtra's CAP fills close to 10,845 MBBS seats and about 3,526 BDS seats across government, municipal corporation, private and deemed-linked medical and dental colleges in the state. AYUSH courses (BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BSMS) and allied health programmes (BPTh, BOTh, BASLP, B(P&O)) are counted in a separate seat pool. The exact, college-wise seat matrix will be published on the portal only after the final merit list is out, on August 18, 2026 — so choice filling should be planned only once that matrix is available, not before.

Why this round matters more than it might seem

Maharashtra runs one of the largest state-level medical counselling systems in the country by seat volume. Unlike a single missed choice or a lower merit rank — which can often be corrected in a later round — a missed registration in Round 1 removes a candidate entirely from that round's allotment for every category of seat: government, municipal corporation, private, and minority-quota. There is no provision to register late for a round that has already closed its window; a candidate who misses it must wait for the next round of CAP, if seats remain, or fall back on other counselling avenues such as the AIQ conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).
