JCECEB NEET UG 2026: MBBS Counselling Schedule for All India & NRI Quota Seats in Jharkhand's Two Private Medical Colleges

The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) has issued a notice (Advt. No. JCECEB/46/26-52, dated 08.08.2026) opening applications and announcing the full counselling calendar for MBBS admission to All India and NRI quota seats. This applies to two colleges in Jharkhand: Laxmi Chandravansi Medical College & Hospital, Bishrampur, Palamu, and Netaji Subhas Medical College and Hospital, Adityapur, Seraikela-Kharsawan. Admission will be based on candidates' NEET (UG)-2026 result, through a merit list prepared by JCECEB, followed by 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Stray Vacancy rounds of online counselling. This is a fresh application-and-schedule announcement, not a result declaration — candidates must register and pay fees to be considered.

What this notice covers and who it is for

This notice is specifically for admission to All India quota and NRI (Non-Resident Indian) quota MBBS seats in two colleges: Laxmi Chandravansi Medical College & Hospital (Bishrampur, Palamu) and Netaji Subhas Medical College and Hospital (Adityapur, Seraikela-Kharsawan). It does not cover the state's regular quota seats filled through the usual state counselling — this is a separate process for All India/NRI seats at these institutions, ordered by Jharkhand's Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Department.

Candidates who want to claim an NRI quota seat must fill a separate format and produce the original NRI-related certificates/documents at the time of admission, in addition to the regular application.

Who is eligible

JCECEB has laid out clear age and academic criteria that every applicant must meet.

• Age: the candidate must have completed 17 years by the time of admission, or must turn 17 on or before 31 December 2026. There is no upper age limit.
• Subjects: the candidate must have individually passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English at the qualifying (12th) examination.
• Minimum marks: at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology taken together, as per NMC (National Medical Commission) and DCI regulations.
• For SC, ST and OBC-NCL (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates, the minimum combined PCB marks required is 40% instead of 50%.
• For PwBD/PwD (persons with benchmark disability) candidates, as per NMC/DCI rules, the minimum combined marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (or Botany & Zoology)/Biotechnology is also 40% instead of 50%.
• The candidate must also have a valid rank in the NEET (UG)-2026 merit list for undergraduate medical courses.

Application and merit list schedule

Candidates who have not yet applied for inclusion in the merit list must fill the online application form on the JCECEB website within the given window. Those who have already applied for the merit list do not need to reapply for the later counselling rounds — they only participate in choice filling for those rounds.

1st, 2nd, 3rd and Stray Vacancy counselling rounds

After the merit list, JCECEB will run four stages of online counselling. Each later round allows new candidates to apply, while previously registered candidates who did not get a seat can fill fresh choices. Note that the Board has stated counselling will follow guidelines of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), and if MCC's guidelines change, JCECEB may revise these dates.

Registration and counselling fees

Fees must be paid online (Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking/UPI) and are non-refundable. The amount depends on category and whether the candidate is a local resident of Jharkhand.

Security deposit at the time of admission — and the trap to avoid

Apart from the registration and counselling fee, candidates must pay a separate Security Deposit at the time of taking admission. This amount varies significantly by the type of institution and is much higher for private/deemed colleges — candidates should have this money ready before joining.

⚠️ Important trap: this Security Money is forfeited (not returned) if a candidate is allotted a seat in the 2nd round (or any round after that) but does not take admission. It is also forfeited if the candidate cancels admission after giving wrong information during registration, or fails to produce the required original certificates at the time of admission. So candidates must be certain before confirming a seat allotment in later rounds, and must carry all original documents without fail.

When and how the Security Money is refunded

If a candidate takes valid admission and no further seat is allotted to them in any later stage of counselling, their Security Money will be refunded. Refunds will be credited to the same account from which the payment was originally made, within 3 months after the last round of counselling. If admission is not taken after a seat allotment in the 2nd round or any subsequent round, or if the admission is cancelled due to wrong information or missing original documents, the Security Money is forfeited and will not be refunded.
