What this notice is and who it affects

It applies to any NEET UG 2026 qualified candidate who wants to compete for seats in Punjab government and private medical/dental colleges through the state's counselling process — including General category, Scheduled Caste, Sports quota, Minority quota (Christian/Sikh), and NRI quota candidates.

The notice lays out five separate timelines: the application window, minority quota verification, NRI quota submission, the merit list process, and the first round of online counselling. Missing any one of these dates can cost a candidate their chance at a seat, so treat this as a single connected schedule, not isolated events.

Application window and fee

The prospectus goes live on the BFUHS website (www.bfuhs.ac.in) on 5 August 2026, and online application submission opens the same day. Candidates must complete and submit the form by 10 August 2026, 5:00 PM. After that, there is a short correction window — until 11 August 2026, 5:00 PM — during which changes can still be made. Once this window closes, the application is automatically locked and no further edits are possible, so candidates should review every entry carefully before this deadline.

The application fee must be paid online through the University's payment gateway only, and must be deposited on or before 11 August 2026, up to 3:00 PM (note this is an earlier cut-off time than the correction deadline on the same day).

Sports quota and PwBD candidates — extra steps

Candidates applying under the Sports category must do more than just fill the online form. By 11 August 2026, 5:00 PM, they must submit two printed copies of the online application form in person at the Admission Branch, BFUHS, Faridkot, along with the Sports Gradation Certificate issued by the Director, Sports, Punjab, and self-attested copies of all supporting documents. This physical submission is mandatory under Clause 15(v) of the notification — an online submission alone is not enough for this category.

Candidates claiming reservation under the Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) category must produce a valid UDID (Unique Disability ID) Card or Disability Certificate. This certificate must be issued in accordance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, and must meet the norms prescribed by the National Medical Commission (NMC) — a certificate that does not meet these specific norms will not be accepted.

Minority quota verification — Christian and Sikh candidates must appear in person

Candidates applying under the Christian Minority Quota or Sikh Minority Quota must get their eligibility verified physically at a designated centre, and this is not optional — it is a precondition for even exercising minority-quota preferences in counselling.

Christian Minority Quota candidates are verified at Christian Medical College, Ludhiana. Sikh Minority Quota candidates are verified at Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Amritsar. Both verifications happen on 12 August 2026, up to 5:00 PM. Candidates must bring all original certificates and documents, including specific documentary proof of their minority status.

This is a critical trap: only candidates who successfully get their eligibility verified at these centres will be allowed to select (exercise preferences for) Minority Quota seats during online counselling. If you skip this verification or fail it, you cannot use the minority quota route at all, even if you otherwise qualify.

NRI quota candidates

NRI (Non-Resident Indian) quota candidates have a separate process. The physical application form for the NRI Quota must be submitted by 12 August 2026, up to 4:00 PM. Importantly, the notice clarifies that the Application Form for the Eligibility Certificate and the Admission Application Form for NRI candidates are two separate forms, both available on the University website — NRI applicants need to check they are filling and submitting both correctly, not just the general online form used by other candidates.

Merit list and objections

After the application window closes, BFUHS will publish a Provisional Merit List on 13 August 2026. If a candidate believes there is an error in their ranking or eligibility, objections must be filed by 14 August 2026 — but only through personal appearance at the Admission Branch, BFUHS, Faridkot, along with documentary evidence. The notice explicitly states that objections sent by e-mail or any other electronic mode will not be entertained, so there is no digital shortcut here.

After objections are resolved, a revised Merit List (if changes are needed) will be displayed on 15 August 2026. This revised list forms the basis for the counselling round that follows.

First round of online counselling

Once the merit list is finalised, the first round of BFUHS online counselling begins. Candidates fill their choices (college and course preferences) online between 16 August 2026 and 19 August 2026 (up to 5:00 PM). The Provisional Seat Allotment Result is then declared on 22 August 2026.

If a candidate disputes their allotment, objections must again be raised in person at the Admission Branch, BFUHS, Faridkot, with supporting documents, by 23 August 2026 (3:00 PM) — email objections are not accepted here either. A revised allotment, if any changes are made, is published on 24 August 2026.

Candidates who are provisionally allotted a seat must then physically report to their allotted college between 25 August 2026 and 28 August 2026. Traps that can get your application rejected or your seat cancelled
